Marlies Merk Najaka has been a professional artist for 30 years. Her striking watercolor paintings are included in many corporate, museum and private collections and she is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS) and the National Watercolor Society (NWS). "My work is always as much about what I eliminate in my painting as it is about what I include." Marlies unique method of applying watercolors enables her to achieve richly toned and extremely complex glazes of color that utilize the light provided by the papers surface to bring a spirited sun-drenched glow to her paintings. Books featuring her paintings are: "Splash 5: Best of Watercolor : The Glory of Color", "Splash 6: The Magic of Texture", and "Object lessons". Her work has also been featured in Watercolor Magazine where she describes her watercolor painting technique in detail.
